Oud on tumma sydänpuu, jota saadaan Aquilaria-suvun puista. Kun puu saa tietynlaisen homeinfektion, siihen muodostuu tummaa öljyistä pihkaa, jonka tuoksu on tiivis ja mystinen. Tämä on harvinainen ja poikkeuksellinen tapahtuma, ja hajuvesien valmistukseen tarvittavan öljymäärän saamiseksi vaaditaan suuria määriä puuta. Siksi oud on arvokkaampaa kuin kulta.
